Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Peppermint Lime Frankincense

We all have so many things to do in our busy lives.  Often our mind gets so busy that we don’t actually know where to start and that is when this focus blend can come in handy.

Rosemary is considered to be one of the noblest amongst the herbal community, it is steeped in religious traditions and ceremonies + it is beautiful easy and welcoming plant in the garden.  Host to a multitude of beneficial insects & especially loved by bees.

Native to the Mediterranean it found its way to Western Europe and the New World most likely with the returning Crusaders who learned the healing/restorative properties.  An adaptive herb, it soon became a mainstay of the herbalist gardens in Western Europe garnering the symbol for Constancy. The primary use seen by these earliest users was the value attributed to it’s scent that was deemed excellent for improving focus and concentration.

Peppermint, the best known of the mint family and has a long and colourful history, and is probably the most popular herb in use today and is highly aromatic.

Renowned for its growth, definitely easy to propagate as it has invasive tendencies so be warned if you are going to include this beauty in your garden.  Originating the near East, it quickly became a popular plant throughout the world.  Another interesting quality of this versatile herb is how easily it cross pollinates.  Giving us the joys of such of so many interesting flavoured mints that are too many to list but here is some of our favourites: basil mint, chocolate mint (yum,), pineapple mint, apple mint and also bergamot, also known also as the orange mint.

Mint is considered to be a cool herb and in India, mint is often hung from the ceilings to give the feeling of coolness. Mint has always been a strewing herb, especially important when animals lived in close proximity to people and bathing was not practiced as regularly as today.

The medicinal virtues of mint have been espoused by the ancients, from the Chinese, to the Greeks and the most famous of all Culpepper

Listed for more than 180 years as an official drug plant, Mint is an ingredient in several compound medicines, even if it is just listed to make the medicine taste less revolting 😊
